Scrapbooking by Nana "C" (Website is frequently updated.)
I got started scrapbooking about 14 years ago when I was teaching second grade, and at that time, I simply put cute stickers next to pictures of students that I had in my classroom. Then I started to notice neat embellishments in the scrapbooking departments of stores that I frequented. Also, paper became important in my layouts.Bright colored paper, different hues of a single color of paper, florescent colored paper, and patterned and solid colored paper were all exciting to me.But most important, both the embellishments and the paper had to enhance the pictures that I wanted to remember for years to come.I would spend a lot of time studying my layouts before I would glue anything down and making it permanent in the album I had chosen for the recipient. You see, scrapbooking to me was remembering the past and reminiscing what took place on those pictures. It is almost like a history class for the person you are scraping for. Every color had to be just right and the embellishments had to be a part of what that picture was all about.
Hobbies are great!!!!!!! Scrapbooking led right into card making. Recycling old cards to invent new cards was a great way to save money. Also, the new stamps and punches that were being produced were a fun way to show off your creative side when making new cards.
So, I have found that time flies when you are having fun because fourteen years later I still love scrapbooking, making cards, all kinds of paper and neat embellishments. But one difference is now I teach scrapbooking and card making classes. It’s great that hobbies like these can turn into such wonderful adventures and experiences. I have met so many wonderful people through scrapbooking and making cards. Some of my dearest friends have taken my classes and enjoy these hobbies along with me. I hope you can be one of them.
This Fall I am trying something new. I will only be teaching card classes through WITC - Ashland, Wisconsin. To make it more convenient for my students, I will be traveling to the 5 different communities where the classes will be held. The card classes will begin in October, 2011, at Cornucopia, Iron River, Mellen, Washburn, and Drummond. We will be making 4 Halloween cards, 4 Thanksgiving cards, and 8 Christmas cards. If you are interested in making cards, consider taking a class from me. You will have fun, meet many new people and have original cards to send to family, friends, and aquaintances.
Mondays -- Cornucopia and Iron River Tuesday -- Mellen Wednesday -- Washburn Thursday -- Drummond

Making cards and working on scrapbooks help artists to show their talents and to preserve a bit of history. Consider this great hobby so you can pass on a small piece of your talent both to your loved ones and friends.
